Shelby, who as the ranking Republican on the Senate Banking Committee routinely clashes with Obama over policy, joined the president on Monday in welcoming the 2009 national championship team to the White House.
Obama’s acerbic press secretary Robert Gibbs did not attend. The president said Gibbs was hiding in his office.
Somehow, the juxtaposition does not surprise us. Shelby lives in Tuscaloosa, while Gibbs grew up in Auburn.
