A Pell City woman was flown by Lifesaver helicopter to University Hospital in Birmingham after a two-vehicle accident in Lincoln Monday.

Lincoln Police Investigator Matt Hill said the accident happened at approximately 9:48 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. 78 and Honda Drive.

“An 18-wheeler was traveling east on U.S. 78 turning north onto Honda Drive,” he said. “The other vehicle was a Ford Explorer, which was traveling west on U.S. 78 and was struck on the front driver’s side of the vehicle.”

Hill said the driver of the Ford Explorer, Kaitlyn Chavez, 24, was transported by Lifesaver to University with non-life-threatening injuries. A passenger in the Ford Explorer was transported by private ambulance to University.

“There were two children under the age of 5 in the Ford Explorer who were restrained in car seats and were uninjured,” he said. “The driver of the 18-wheeler was also uninjured.”

Hill said the accident is under investigation by the Lincoln Police Department.
