Daves will begin his new position on Dec. 17, working closely with current Executive Director Mack Ferguson for a transition period according to a press release from the chamber.
In October Ferguson told the board of his plans to retire. He plans to work until mid-January.
“Jason’s vision for the future of the Chamber and the Talladega area community along with his experience as a small business owner, make him a great fit for The Greater Talladega/Lincoln Area Chamber of Commerce,” said Taylor.
Daves will manage the daily activities and special functions of the Chamber, including all administrative and fiscal responsibilities. He will also implement short and long term objectives for the Chamber and cultivate relationships with area businesses.
“I am excited to be joining the Chamber and raising our family in a city that we cherish dearly.” Daves said. “The area is poised for growth, which makes this opportunity to serve both a privilege and a challenge. I am committed to ensuring the Chamber’s continued success and also the betterment of the Talladega County community.”
Daves comes to the chamber from Mobile where he owned and operated his own business, a UPS franchise store, for the past eight years. He has previously worked as a marketing research assistant at the University of Mississippi where he received his bachelors degree in business administration.
Taylor said there were more than a dozen applicants for the job and five were interviewed by the selection committee.
Joining Daves in the move are his wife Bry, a Talladega native, and their two-year-old son Parker. Bry is the daughter of the late Gary Conover and Muffett Robbs Conover of Talladega.
