Bobby Allison confirmed for Block Party Oct. 2

TALLADEGA — NASCAR legend Bobby Allison has confirmed that he will be attending the Block Party in Oct. 2.

According to Activities Committee Talladega member Keela Brown, Allison is scheduled to arrive in the VIP area at 6:35 p.m., and will be presented with a key to the city and a proclamation. It was not clear whether or not he would be signing autographs.

Allison is also scheduled to appear at the Talladega Superspeedway for the fall race this year, but this is a different event, Brown said.

The band lineup has also been altered since the event was announced last week.

At stage one, at the chamber, the lineup includes the Dee Ford Band will play from 3:45 p.m. to 4:35 p.m., followed by the Dusty Cooper Band from 4:50 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and RPM from 5:45 to 6:30, followed by a break for the induction ceremony at the Davy Allison Memorial Park. At 8:45 p.m., Deidra the Blues Diva and Ruff Pro take the stage.

The Inspiration Stage, also at the chamber, will host the welcome and national anthem from 3:30 to 3:45, with the Talladega College Choir from 4 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. and Slow Moses from 5 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.

At the Walk of Fame Stage, Sonic Stew will play from 4 p.m. to 5:45 p.m., and Nashville recording artist Hope Cassidy will perform from 5:40 to the induction break at 6:30. Wing Nutts, featuring Donnie Todd of Pell City, plays from 8:30 to 9:15 and Blindside of Tallapoosa, Ga., will close out the event from 9:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
