Both Sylacauga Police and Fire Departments were called out to a two-vehicle accident on County Road 511 on Wednesday.

A Ford Explorer and a Chevrolet Impala wrecked and hit the residence of Robert and Malissa Scales at 15 Wood Street, Sylacauga.

The Scales were not home, but another resident, Arnissa Goggins, was watching television in the den when she heard what she described as sounding like a big tornado coming through the house and the house shook.

Goggins discovered the accident and called 911. Sylacauga Police Sgt. Willis Whatley said the driver of the Explorer was flown by LifeSaver helicopter to University Hospital in Birmingham and the driver of the Impala left the scene in a personal vehicle.

Whatley said the accident was under investigation. Submitted photo
