TOP Trails board meeting Wednesday
A special board meeting of the Public Park Authority of the Cities of Lincoln and Talladega has been called for Wednesday morning at 7:30 at TOP Trails park. Board chairman Tommy Spears did not state a reason for the called meeting, but it closely follows a scheduled meeting between board members and the attorney for the park developer’s firm.

In recent board meetings the possibility of terminating the contract for park development with C.D. Roberts Associates has been discussed, and at the last meeting, Roberts’ attorney George Monk addressed the board before an executive session with the board’s attorney about “a legal matter”. Following that session, the board voted to have two board members meet with Monk and a representative from Roberts’ firm in an attempt to redefine the firm’s duties.

Park development has slowed and operations were cut back in recent months due to delays in receiving reimbursement checks from the state for work done under the terms of grants awarded to the park authority.

TOP Trails is an outdoor recreation park in the third year of a ten-year development plan. The 2,800 acre tract boasts some 70 miles of trails for off-road vehicles.
