“We lost a great man today,” board member Johnny Ponder said.
Terry Roller, principal of Lincoln High School for the past nine years, moves on to accept a position at the Athens City Schools Board of Education Central Office. His resignation is effective today.
“We hate to lose him, but he is furthering his career by going to the central office there,” TCBOE Director of Operations Dr. Dan Payant said. “Certainly, we thank him for his service to the children in the Lincoln community. We wish him all the best.”
Jessica Dorough, a mathematics teacher and head softball coach at LHS, shared her thoughts on the principal she had worked with her entire career at the school.
“I was very honored to get the opportunity to work for such a great principal,” Dorough said. “He is tough, but in the end, it has been good for our students. I am sad to see him go, but happy for him on his next adventure.”
Payant said the vacancy would be advertised and a replacement would be found as soon as possible.
Other board actions taken:
