The Lincoln City Council approved funds for a personnel analysis at Tuesday’s council meeting.

The council authorized the mayor to execute a contract for services with Jacksonville State University’s Center for Economic Development in the amount of $13,500.

“In our council retreat, we discussed the need to look at and update our policies and procedures,” Mayor Bud Kitchin said. “We need to better define our job descriptions, pay raise process and ensure we are in compliance with the human resources laws out there.”

Kitchin said it is a 3-6 month process with follow-up consultation.

“I think it’s a really good thing,” Councilman Billy Pearson said.

The council also scheduled a work session Tuesday, July 16 at 10 a.m. in the council conference room, but will move to the council chambers if attendance warrants it.
