More accidents on 275 Bypass

TALLADEGA — Police have responded to two recent accidents the 275 Bypass resulting in one injury, according to Capt. Leon Thomas.

The first incident occurred at around 1 a.m. Saturday morning, when a patrol vehicle observed a white Infiniti with tinted windows speeding and playing very loud music on Howard Street. The patrol officer attempted to stop the Infiniti, which instead sped off.

The Infiniti ran the stop sign at the intersection of Howard Street and the bypass, striking a second vehicle which, in turn, struck a third vehicle.

The Infiniti appears to have sustained some front end damaged, but escaped from the scene of the accident, Thomas said.

The drivers of the other two vehicles were checked out by paramedics, but both drivers refused treatment, he added.

The more recent accident took place Monday morning at about 11:18 a.m., when Lani Marie Bourgeios, 21, of Sylacauga, crossed the bypass in a 1996 Geo Metro on Renfroe Road.

Thomas said Bourgeios’s vehicle was struck by a Freightliner truck driven by a 42-year-old Talladega man, who was not injured.

Bourgeios got out of her vehicle and walked over to paramedics on her own, Thomas said. She was transported to the emergency room of Citizens Baptist Medical Center with what Thomas described as “non-life-threatening injuries.”

Anyone with information on the white Infiniti should contact Talladega police at 256-362-4508 or call the anonymous tip line at 256-299-0011.
