Fourth of July celebration Thursday at Talladega's Veterans Park
by Chris Norwood
TALLADEGA — For more than 30 years, the city has marked Independence Day with live music, fireworks and other attractions in Veterans Park. The year 2013 promises to be no different.

According to a memo, this year’s festivities will include an 18-foot inflatable slide, an inflatable bounce dome, basketball and football toss, volleyball and a dunking booth. Live music will be provided by DieDra and the Ruff Pro Band, a local band that plays festivals all over the South and has a recording studio on the square. Vendors will be selling drinks and snacks in the park as well.

The band will play “The Star Spangled Banner” starting around 9 p.m. to coincide with the beginning of the fireworks display. As in the past several years, fireworks will be provided by Pyrotechnico.
