Adding a little rhythm to your life
Whether you’re a fan of live music or just looking for a reason to get out of the house, there are several opportunities coming up in the next few weeks.

Pell City’s Rock the Block party is tonight, 5:30-11 downtown, weather permitting, with live entertainment scheduled for four different stages performing country, rock, spiritual and Motown music, plus a couple of impersonators. Even without the music, the Chamber of Commerce’s annual block party is quite a show with a large variety of vendors — they even expanded the space for the event this year.

The Pell City Chamber is also trying out something new this summer, Friday Nights Downtown, with performers scheduled June 28, July 26 and Aug. 23, 5-8 p.m. Some of the downtown stores will be staying open late those days to welcome shoppers, too.

Lincoln’s Parks and Recreation Department is organizing Music on Magnolia, a free concert event to be held the last Saturday of the month through August, 7-9 p.m., at Randolph Park.

The city of Talladega’s July 4 celebration will feature DieDra and the Ruff Pro band before the fireworks at Veterans Park.

Special events like these are important to the quality of life in the community. We appreciate the work that goes into making them happen, and hope readers take advantage of them.
