PREPS ROUNDUP: Fayetteville Lady Wolves top Maplesville 6-0

The Fayetteville Lady Wolves softball team scored a redemptive victory over Maplesville Monday night, 6-0. After being defeated by Maplesville earlier this season, the Lady Wolves put together a complete game the second time around.

Haydn Hughes pitched a complete-game shutout, with five strikeouts. Additionally, she converted all nine of the putout opportunities she encountered on defense and had a single at the plate.

Summer Guy also had a strong defensive performance at first base and hit a single at the plate.

Peyton Denis finished the game two for three. Other hitters with singles included: Courtney DeLoach, Brittany Snyder, Lauren Guy, and Amber Harris.

The JV team also won against Maplesville by a final score of 7-2.

Drey Arnold hit a triple and had two RBIs. Tanner Wesson went two for two. Jade Gregor had a single.

Fayetteville varsity fell Tuesday night to the Sylacauga Lady Aggies, 11-4.

Courtney DeLoach went two for four, while both Haydn Hughes and Kayla Sherbert went two for two. Sherbert hit a double. Hailey Haynes and Summer Guy each finished with a single.

The JV team also lost to Sylacauga by a final score of 7-6. It was the JV team’s final game of the season. The team came back in the bottom of the seventh, down 7-4, to cut the lead down to 7-6 but the runner at second base was thrown out trying to steal third base, ending the game.

Drey Arnold went three for three with two doubles. Hitters getting singles included: Brooklyn Snyder, Shelby Skinner, Madison Harris, and Tanner Wesson.

The JV team finished their season with an overall record of 6-5.

With the combined win and loss, the varsity Lady Wolves have a 9-13 overall record. The team will host Ragland Thursday.

SOCCER

SYLACAUGA 6, TALLADEGA 0

The Sylacauga girls soccer team defeated Talladega, 6-0. The team allowed no shots on goal by Talladega and spread the ball around, with each goal scored by different players.

Shelby Sorenson, Jessica Hill, Sarah Donahoo, Abby Sanders, Casey Clifton and Chandler Thrash each scored goals. For defender Thrash, it was her first goal of the season.

The team made a total of six of their 12 shots on goal.
