United Way still working toward goal

The United Way of South Talladega County is still working toward its $100,000 goal.

The organization currently has $68,400 in committed pledges, although President Amy Peoples said they are projecting an additional $25,100 from businesses that have not yet reported pledge totals, bringing the total projected pledges for this year to $93,500.

Members began campaigning for pledges in September.

United Way is level funding all agencies this year, Peoples said. It will continue to support Boy Scouts, SAFE Family Services Center, Children’s Emergency Fund (DHR), American Red Cross, The ARC, Boys Club of Sylacauga, Sylacauga Little League, Sylacauga Babe Ruth, Fayetteville School and Sylacauga City Schools Exceptional Children Programs.

“Our board plans to meet and review pledges again in June 2013 and make adjustments to allocations if needed at that time,” Peoples said.

Those interested in donating can contact United Way at 256-267-0000 or mail a donation to: P.O. Box 834, Sylacauga, AL 35150.
