TC scored the first basket on an inside shot by Andre Jackson. Robert Morris took the lead on a free throw by Anthony Shoemaker to make it 3-2.
Robert Morris extended the lead to 6-2, but Andre Jackson had a monster dunk that brought the home crowd to its feet. It provided just the spark of momentum TC needed as they regained the lead at 11-10. Just prior to regaining the lead, the team saw Robert Morris player Kashaune McKinney get ejected from the game after he received a technical foul for shoving a TC player to the floor, which led to the two teams being separated. Jimmie Davis sank both technical foul shots and once again, Jackson came through with a turnaround jumper to give his team an 11-10 lead.
Aubrey McAlpine answered with a two-point basket for Robert Morris. Then, Phillip Wood nailed a 3-point shot to give TC a 14-12 lead. McAlpine answered again to tie the game at 14-14.
The two teams battled traded leads for several more possessions, before Ray Lewis knocked down a 3-pointer to give TC a 23-18 lead.
But Robert Morris wasn’t about to go away. Brian Bradley knocked down three straight 3-pointers. The first 3-pointer helped Robert Morris regain the lead at 24-23 and the last 3-pointer gave Robert Morris a 30-24 lead.
Jantzen Carter hit a 3-point shot, Jackson made another nice inside shot off the glass, and Carter made a free throw to cut the Robert Morris lead to 31-30.
Sean Montgomery made a basket for Robert Morris and Jackson answered with another two points to leave Robert Morris with a 33-32 lead at the half.
Robert Morris had a strong start to the second half, as they extended their lead to 39-32. However, TC battled back to tie the game at 39-39 after Booker Darrion grabbed a rebound and put it back in for a two points.
TC was able to take the lead after Jimmie Davis came up with a steal and was able to drive the distance for a basket with TC on top 41-39.
Robert Morris answered with a putback by Sean Montgomery to tie it at 41-41, but TC took a 43-41 lead on a two-point shot by Phillip Wood and never relinquished the lead.
Roman Vaughan hit a three-point shot to give TC a 46-41 lead, prompting Robert Morris to take a timeout.
Robert Morris was able to bring the lead down to two points at 55-53 following a Sean Montgomery 3-point shot. But that was as close as they would get.
TC used a 10-5 run to control the rest of the game. During the run, Jackson had four points, two rebounds, and an assist to give the team a 65-58 lead.
Wood scored the last four points for TC to push their lead to 74-61. McAlpine score a meaningless 3-point shot and the final was 74-64.
Phil Wood led the way for TC in scoring with 20 points, followed by Jimmie Davis with 17, and Andre Jackson with 16 points. Jackson also led the team in rebounding with a total of 10, while Jimmie Davis had a game-high four steals.
For Robert Morris, Sean Montgomery finished with 20 points, Brian Bradley had 16, and Aubrey McAlpine had 10 points while also leading the game in rebounding with a total of 12.
TC plays Fisk on Saturday at Tornado Alley with tipoff set for 7:30 p.m.
