Lacey runner up for state award

TALLADEGA COUNTY — Talladega County Schools Superintendent Suzanne Lacey has been selected as the runner up for 2013 Superintendent of the Year.

Superintendent Jeff Langham from the Elmore County school system was chosen as the 2013 Superintendent of the Year and will attend a Superintendent of the Year Luncheon sponsored by Classworks on Feb. 5, 2013, during SSA’s Legislative Conference in Montgomery.

The following finalists were recognized at the SSA Fall Conference in Florence during a luncheon on Monday: Superintendent Alan Lee from Baldwin County, Superintendent Daniel Boyd from Lowndes County, Superintendent Terry Holley from Covington County, Superintendent Jeff Langham from Elmore County, Superintendent Craig Witherspoon from Birmingham City, Superintendent Suzanne Lacey from Talladega County, Superintendent Jason Adkins from Walker County, Superintendent Charles W. (Billy) Coleman from Cullman County, and Superintendent Dale Edwards from Guntersville City.

“Dr. Lacey is the epitome of the insightfulness and hardworking nature of Alabama superintendents. She has continued to raise achievement and engagement through some very creative processes. It takes courage to insist on high achievement for all children, and she does just that everyday,” said School Superintendents of Alabama Executive Director Eric Mackey.

SSA represents superintendents and school system leaders around the state, and is an affiliate of the Council for Leaders in Alabama Schools, or CLAS, and the state affiliate for the American Association of School Administrators.
