This year’s event will be the 25th year of bargains in what’s known as the 127 Corridor Sale, according to the “official” website. It has 690 miles of shopping to cover from August 2-5. A discussion between the Greater Area Talladega Chamber of Commerce and the Alexander City Chamber of Commerce directors Mack Ferguson and Marvin Wagoner gave birth to the idea. Now an extension of another hundred or so miles for buying and selling is planned for the four days of the event, following Alabama 77 south from Gadsden through Talladega to 49 in Lineville, to 22 in New Site and into Alex City.
The chamber is even offering to help spread the word on where groups, businesses and churches will be setting up – just be sure to partner with property owners and follow local laws.
It’s a creative idea, one that should be fun, shouldn’t cost much, and might help residents exchange junk for treasure — whichever way they see it. It looks like a win-win all around.
