Tip of the Hat: Kudos to Sylacauga Chamber
We’re glad to see the Sylacauga Chamber of Commerce organizing political forums for this year’s municipal elections.

The forum for City Council candidates is scheduled for Thursday at 6 p.m. at J. Craig Smith Community Center, with each candidate who has qualified having an opportunity to speak to Sylacauga voters. One unusual aspect of the forum — there will still be three days to qualify after it’s over, so if Sylacaugans don’t see anyone they like in their district, they’ll still have time to go to the city clerk’s office to get on the ballot!

A forum for mayoral candidates is planned for July 23.

Residents need to keep up with their local government, stay in touch with their elected representatives, and most of all participate in local elections. The forums are a great way to get involved, and we appreciate those at the chamber for working to make it available.
