David Kilgore won the Bass Pro Shop bass master Southern Open on Logan Martin Lake in Pell City. Kilgore held the lead going into Saturday. Several inches of rain changed water conditions drastically from the first two days, but Kilgore was able to reel in four fish that weighted in 12 pounds and 11 ounces to win the tournament.
Fayetteville eliminated from 1A state tourney The Fayetteville Lady Wolves returned to Montgomery for a second consecutive season, but fell short again this season, as they were eliminated following two losses.
Fayetteville takes on Parrish in state tourney The crotchety scorekeepers in the press box at Troy were not pleased. Every member of the Fayetteville team was on their feet, whether it was the batter at the plate or on the on-deck circle, coaches on the base lines, or everyone else in the dugout. Many of those in the dugout were singing in jubilation. The team was in the top of the fifth inning, having just pushed their lead to 14-3 against Billingsley, enough of a lead to end the game prematurely. All they needed now was three outs to qualify for the State Tournament.

TC Central defeats Loachapoka to advance After four innings of play both pitchers in the TC Central-Loachapoka game had no-hitters, but the score was 16-9. The final score of 24-18 resembled a football game more than a softball game, but in the end, TC Central prevailed to live another day.
Fayetteville advances to South Central finals The Fayetteville Lady Wolves are one win away from a return trip to the Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 1A state finals in Montgomery. The Lady Wolves defeated Faith Christian, 16-0 and archrival Wadley 10-3 on Friday. They will face three-time defending state champions Ragland at 8 a.m.
Lincoln prepared to make run in postseason The Lincoln Lady Bears softball team got off to a slow start to their season, but the team is headed to Tuscaloosa for the North-Central Regional with some momentum. The team is slated to play Saint Clair County today at 3:30 p.m.
