The incident occurred at 9:15 p.m.
All four suspects were arrested at the scene.
Police Chief Shane Burnette said two police officers were already at the scene engaged in crowd control when they heard nine shots coming from outside and behind McDonald’s.
Burnette said officers routinely patrol McDonald’s, Burger King and Taco Bell after Childersburg High School basketball games because crowds generally gather at one of the locations. He said sometimes the crowds get so large officers are called in.
A car thought to be involved in the incident was pulled over in front of the restaurant by a Talladega County Sheriff’s Department deputy, Burnette said.
Confiscated were a .22 revolver and a .380 automatic pistol.
Lincoln resident Jennifer Jackson was parked in back of McDonald’s waiting in line at the drive-thru when she and three students who were with her heard shots fired.
Jackson, a teacher at Graham Elementary School in Talladega, is a cheerleader sponsor. She said after Talladega won their game, she and the students stayed for the Childersburg-Sylacauga game to see which team Talladega would play Saturday.
Jackson said when they arrived, she noticed several police cars as she got in line to order.
While waiting in line, Jackson said several people walked by and one of her students said, “They look up to no good.”
Jackson said the cheerleader, a senior at Talladega High School, said she was getting “bad vibes” and checked to make sure the car doors were locked.
“I was looking in my rear-view mirror when I saw fire and heard the shots,” Jackson said.
She said she ducked and the students got on the floor board and one of them started praying. She said a police officer jumped over her car, and then she saw a vehicle chase another vehicle out of the rear entrance of the parking lot.
When the vehicle in front of her moved, Jackson said she drove away, remaining ducked down just enough to see to drive. When entering U.S. 280, she said she saw police with guns drawn and an SUV they had stopped.
Reckless endangerment is a misdemeanor.
All four suspects are free on bond.
