The Sylacauga community came together for its 10th annual communitywide Thanksgiving Dinner.

Sylacauga Promise, SAFE Family Services Center and Reaching the World Bible Church were just a few of the community organizations that came together with 250 volunteers to serve about 2,800 people on Thursday.

Margaret Morton, director of SAFE Family Services Center, said about 85 percent of those meals were delivered. Morton said turkey, dressing, gravy, corn, green beans, macaroni and cheese, dessert, cranberry sauce and rolls were prepared at Reaching the World Bible Church around 9 a.m. and served around 11 a.m.

“It was truly a wonderfully successful day,” Morton said. “It truly was a community effort. We just owe a huge debt of thanks to those who came out and gave their time on Thanksgiving to give to others. It truly was a day the Lord made.”
