With the assistance of the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department and the U.S. Marshals, the Talladega County Sheriff’s Office apprehended a Munford man at approximately 1:30 p.m. Monday in the Coldwater area.

Christopher Lynn Sullivan, 43, faces a third-degree burglary charge stemming from breaking into a home on the 400 block of Cheaha Road in Munford between 5:45-6:15 a.m. July 12.

“He caused extensive damage inside the home during the course of the break-in,” Investigator Mike Jones said. “There were several objects taken from the residence that were later recovered in Calhoun County the same day.”

According to police reports, Sullivan broke several doors and windows valued at $1,400 and caused damage to a police scanner valued at $400 and a computer tower valued at $150.

He also is accused of stealing assorted tools valued at $50, assorted coins valued at $100 and two cordless phones valued at $75 before leaving the residence in the owner’s white 2011 Chevrolet Camaro.

Jones noted there was an additional misdemeanor charge for unauthorized use of a vehicle, but he said it was up to the homeowner to sign the warrant and pursue charges. According to Jones, Sullivan and the homeowner are relatives.

“She was more upset about the damages to the home than anything else,” Jones said.

Officers transported Sullivan to the Talladega County Jail.

The Talladega County Sheriff's Office obtained a warrant for Sullivan’s arrest Thursday. When issuing the warrant, Judge Jeb Fanning set Sullivan’s bond at $20,000.

Jones noted Sullivan had a prior history with property crimes and it wasn’t Sullivan’s “first rodeo.”

“He was recently paroled from prison,” Jones said. “He’s been out for maybe two to two-and-a-half months. His parole officer has been notified and he’s possibly facing having his parole revoked. It’s up to his parole officer at this point.”
