SYLACAUGA — Firefighters from across Talladega County attempted to gain control of a fire that broke out at the 98-year-old Avondale Mills in Sylacauga Wednesday afternoon.

Firefighters from Childersburg, Talladega, Oak Grove and other fire departments joined Sylacauga FD to battle the huge fire at the closed mill.

The fire reportedly began around 12:15 p.m. in the old mill warehouse.
