TALLADEGA — The Greater Talladega Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual banquet Wednesday, Jan. 16, at noon at Shocco Springs Baptist Conference Center. Tickets are still available.

The chamber will “announce the winners of several new awards, including the ‘Outstanding New Business’ award,” according to a press release. These small businesses, less than five years old, were nominated by chamber members.

The nominees from the Lincoln area are ATC Graphics, Caribe Club and Marina, Downey Eye Care, Rick’s Crossroads Grill, R.O.C.K. and SK Services. Talladega/Munford area nominees are Community Fresh Farm Market, LMo And Company, Pigeon’s Roost, Susan Rae’s Learning Center, Walgreens and the law firm Woodruff and Love.

Awards for Outstanding Public Servant and Outstanding Business Person will also be presented for the Lincoln and Talladega/Munford areas.

According to the release, “Fran Pope, 2012 Chamber president, will recognize three outgoing chamber board members: Ray Miller, Chad Woodruff and Andy Whiddon, while Joel Taylor, chamber president for 2013, will install Luke Montgomery, Becky Griffin and Buster Taylor as new board members. The chamber will also be welcoming Jason Daves as the 2013 executive director. Though retiring, current director Mack Ferguson has served the chamber well for almost four years, and will remain active in many of the chamber projects and activities.”

Voice of the Talladega Superspeedway and eight time Associated Press award winner Matt Coulter will be the guest speaker.

Tickets are $20 each or $180 for a table for eight. Tickets will remain on sale until noon on Friday.
