Incumbent Talladega County Probate Judge Billy Atkinson handily defeated challenger Chuck Roberts by 19,395 to 13,220, or 59.4 percent to 40.5 percent.
“Out front,” Atkinson said, “I want to thank our Lord and savior. Then I’d like to thank my family, my friends and all my supporters. And I’d like to say even to the people who didn’t support me, I’d like you to work with us, too.
“I want to do all I can to continue to earn the trust of people of Talladega County, and to work for the best interests of our county. I appreciate the opportunity to continue doing what I love, which is serving the public. We get to touch the lives of a lot of people in this office, and our doors are always open.
“I am honored and humbled that people think well of my excellent staff and the work they do here every year. They said they’re really doing a great job, and they are.”
