Not only is it important for Eleanor Clinkscales to see underprivileged kids receive presents and toys Christmas morning, it is also important to her to make sure needy families have a hot meal to eat.

Recently, there were 170 bags of food distributed to needy families throughout St. Clair County through Refuge Ministries.

Each bag contained a ham, green beans, instant potatoes, corn, pineapples, cake mix and cake icing.

These bags of food were distributed to senior centers throughout the county.

This is something Clinkscales has been doing for almost three decades.

“This just makes me feel good to help needy families,” Clinkscales said.

Clinkscales is also using the money received from The Daily Home/St. Clair Times to pass out $25 gift cards for shoes for school-aged children. She was able to give out 76 gift cards.
