Bhutan is abundant in breathtaking scenery and provides plenty of exciting things to see and do. The people of Bhutan have a rich culture and national dress. This makes it one of the most unique places to visit in Asia.

If you have an adventurous spirit and are interested in visiting Asia to go trekking, rafting and going on safari, this could be your ideal holiday.

Where is Bhutan?

Located on the eastern fringe of the Himalayas, with India (on the southern side) and China (on the northern side), it is a hidden gem that is gleaming with spirituality. Happiness really is this country's way of life. It is very near Tibet, so it is a mainly mountainous region that is covered in vegetation and has a large variety of flowers and wildlife.

Bhutan's Wildlife

Instead of taking African safari holidays in Kenya, Bhutan offers a variety of safari adventures that allow the chance to see rare animals up close. The animals located in the northern region include Bengal tigers, red pandas, snow leopards and the Himalayas black bear. In the southern region, they include the one horned rhinoceros, elephants and the clouded leopard. Both regions are rich in forests that contain huge varieties of birds, as well.

One thing to keep in mind is that there is a minimum travel tariff charged to visitors of £125 to £155 per day for groups of three or more. However, this does include accommodation, meals, tours and equipment with a licensed tour operator, transport within Bhutan and taxes.

The best time to visit is normally from the end of September to the end of November, but an umbrella should always be packed, as rain is inevitable at any time of year.

Bhutan versus Kenya

Taking Kenya safari holidays with kids is a once in a lifetime adventure that will create memories for you and your family that will last forever. In Kenya, there are also numerous tour operators that can cater to families and can give guidance on the best places to visit. Whether visiting Bhutan or Kenya, the opportunity to see wildlife in its natural habitat is one of the most exciting experiences a family can have.

The best time to visit Kenya is during the yearly migration of zebras, wildebeests and gnus as they journey across the Mara plains with predatory animals in hot pursuit. This normally takes place between July and October. This is the driest part of the year, so there is a lot less vegetation; this means the animals cluster at the water holes and it makes being able to see a large variety of animals a much better probability.

Travelling Smart and Safe

Safety is paramount in considering a safari tour in either Bhutan or Kenya and a thorough check with the tourist councils at each location is imperative. There are also other requirements that may need to be considered, so ensure you do your research and get any necessary inoculations or paperwork sorted well before the trip.

Enjoy your adventure and do not forget your camera and journal to document the experience, as a safari may truly be the best journey you will ever make.
